Condition control and evaluation of service life of traction electric engines and wheel motor units of rolling stock

  Operation quality of traction electric engines (TEE) and wheel motor units (WMU) of locomotives in the field can be increased by improvement of maintenance systems on the basis of diagnostic activities for the purpose of more objective and reliable condition control of critical parts and assemblies of WMU, such as bearing assemblies, windings insulation, commutator-and-brush assembly.

On the basis of the analysis of influence of external operational actions and deflections of design and process variables of electromagnetic and mechanical character on TEE operation quality a diagnostic model of TEE and WMU operation quality in the field has been formed. In addition, we detected an effective set of most informative and distinctive parameters of condition diagnosing and performability monitoring.

The article presents the requirements for the system of vibration analysis and condition monitoring of TEE and WMU of locomotives in the field. The most efficient methods for equipment condition evaluation are presented, diagnostic features are specified, a block diagram of probing technologies of the locomotive section is presented, basic software modules of the system for vibration analysis of TEE and WMU of locomotives are described.
