"Demikhovo machinery plant" JSC: Response to operation of the system for electric multiple unit trains health monitoring COMPACS-EXPRESS-3

Since 2011 electric multiple unit (EMU) trains of ED4M series, produced by "Demikhovo machinery plant", have been equipped with the on-board health monitoring system COMPACS®-EXPRESS-3. Currently the plant has produced more than 60 EMU trains, equipped with the system.

Three-year operating experience of EMU-trains, equipped with the on-board system, allows to ascertain a high efficiency of the systems operation within detection of malfunctions and incipient defects in mechanical equipment, electric circuits, traction electric motors and auxiliary machines, as well as in compressed-air and electric compressed-air brake equipment.

Within EMU-trains commissioning the system is widely used by adjusters of "Demikhovo machinery plant" JSC in order to reveal and eliminate mounting errors, as well as for control of the main equipment operating parameters during testing.

Thus, during commissioning of EMU-train ED4M-0434 the system has detected a substantial increase of a traction motor current in 043404 car within the train traction movement on the 4th position of a principal controller. The received data has helped to eliminate the shortcut in the field reduction circuit, as well as to avoid the traction electric motor overload consequences.

MDRS system is a right hand for adjusters’ crews within EMU-trains commissioning on the plant test area and multiple unit depots.

COMPACS®-EXPRESS-3 system is a serious step towards processing efficiency and safety of "Demikhovo machinery plant" JSC production.

"Gazprom dobycha Orenburg" LLC: Response to COMPACS-RPP system for vibration analysis of rolling bearings

In 2005 COMPACS®-RPP system has been implemented at the Production-technical services and marketing base (since 01.01.2013 – Logistics department) of "Gazprom dobycha Orenburg", LLC. Bearings, supplied for the repair needs of "Gazprom dobycha Orenburg", LLC, are subjected to acceptance tests. An average number of bearings, subjected to the acceptance tests, is 8000 pieces per year. The expert system for bearing defects diagnostics is based on the envelope spectrum analysis of a vibration signal and detects particular bearings defects: of inner and outer races, rolling elements and cage.

Bearings database includes information on the bearing number, its inner and outer diameters, quantity of rolling elements, their diameters and contact angles. The software provides ability to correct information on the bearings parameters from the operator’s desk. Calculation of the bearings frequencies with allowance for rotation frequency within the bearing testing is carried out automatically. There has been provided capability to accumulate the information on the tested bearings signals in a special archive.

Bearings that fail the acceptance tests are returned to suppliers for replacement. It is practiced to roll the previously used bearings for their health diagnostics and capability of their realignment on the processing equipment.

The system advantages are as follows:

  • high speed of operation;
  • low requirements to personnel qualification;
  • industrial design, providing a high reliability;
  • completely automatic operating process - an operator has only to install the bearing and run the diagnostic process.

The system application has allowed to exclude access to production of low-quality bearings and, as a consequence, improve reliability and extend the equipment service life.

"LUKOIL-Ukhta Refinery" LLC: Response to the system COMPACS for technical state monitoring of pump-and-compressor equipment

Since 2008 the COMPACS® system for technical state monitoring of pump-and-compressor equipment have been implemented at the processing units 35-11/300, АТ-1, GDS-850, "Visbreaking", "Isomerization" of the refinery "LUKOIL-Ukhtaneftepererabotka" LLC.

During the COMPACS® systems operation a number of repairs according to the system readings have confirmed the effectiveness of the equipment state monitoring on the vibration parameters. Implementation of systems for pump-and-compressor equipment monitoring provides the real time technical state observability of each equipment unit not only at processing units, but also remotely by means of Compacs-Net®, which allows to take timely actions in case of the equipment technical state changes, associated with occurrence of various components and parts malfunctions, and violation of technological operating mode.

At the unit GDS-850 the system monitors 12 centrifugal pumps and 4 piston compressors based on 4GМ10.

Each compressor has sensors, installed in the following points:

  • on the cylinder cap in the axial direction;
  • in the piston radial direction in the area of suction and delivery valves location;
  • over the crosshead in the radial direction;
  • on the main bearings;
  • on the motor front and rear bearings;
  • over the rod for the rod position control and determining the support rings wear.

Totally on the compressor have been installed: 21 vibration accelerometers, 4 eddy-current sensors of the rod position, a sensor of the shaft rotation angle.

The rod position sensors use has proved itself particularly effective – the sensors have allowed to monitor the piston rings wear and prevent the rods destruction in real time during the compressors operation.

The gained experience of the monitoring systems readings use allows to operate with the pump-and-compressor equipment according to the COMPACS® systems readings.

"Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Company" CJSC: Response to the benchtop system COMPACS-RPP for rolling bearings acceptance tests

The system COMPACS®-RPP has been implemented at "Novokuibyshevsk petrochemical company" JSC since 2007. Supplied bearings with an inner diameter from 40 to 120 mm are subjected to acceptance tests.

The system advantages include the following:

  • high operating speed;
  • low requirements to personnel qualification;
  • completely automated working process;
  • electronic archiving;
  • rejection by quality categories with the results issuance both in an electronic form and in a hard copy;
  • lack of malfunctions and failures.

Use of the system has allowed to exclude entry of poor quality bearings into production.

Anisovka depot: Response to the system COMPACS-EXRESS-TR3 for comprehensive diagnostics of electric multiple units

The depot Anisovka for more than four years operates actively the system for comprehensive diagnostics of electric multiple units COMPACS®-EXPRESS-TR3, designed to evaluate the repair quality of series ER9, ED9 (T, M, MK) electric multiple units equipment after current repair TR-3.

For this period due to the system 90% of electric multiple units after a large-volume repair have been completely debugged (except for 10% of series ER9P electric multiple units). All defects, detected by the system, have been confirmed by the results of additional dismantling and revisions, made at the system direction. Many of the defects could not be detected during traditional running tests and under a contact wire debugging.

Experience, received during the system operation, allows to draw a conclusion that the system COMPACS®-EXPRESS-TR3 provides a trouble-shooting level of about 85%, including the most dangerous defects, which omission can lead to failures and breakdowns on the way with significant delays in the time-schedule.

The system has proved itself as a reliable source of information on the electric multiple units technical state with a high level of covering the diagnosed units and assemblies, which ensures a high level of trouble-free functioning of railway transport.

Altayskaya depot: Response to the system COMPACS-EXRESS-TR3 for comprehensive diagnostics of electric multiple units

The system COMPACS®-EXPRESS-TR3 has been actively operated in the depot for almost 4 years. During that time it has approved itself in a positive way as a modern means for technical condition diagnostics of electric multiple units (EMUs).

One of the system main advantages is the EMUs adjustment at low-voltage, which excludes the possibility of injuring the maintenance personnel by high voltage current. Furthermore, the system can detect the majority of failures that occur through the depot personnel faults during the EMUs repairs, which greatly facilitates the launch under the contact wire and reduces the human factor influence due to the testing process automation.

The depot staff, working directly with the system, has a number of variants to improve the system performance characteristics: to simplify the search process of EMUs test reports; to correct instability of motor drive actuation during vibrodiagnostics of EMUs bearing assemblies in order to prevent contamination of the test facility pressure sensors; to install filters not only at hoses, running to the main tank, brake and feed pipelines, but at all air hoses of the system air main as well.
